MEET OUR TEAM

INTRODUCING DR KATRINA BENNETT

Dr Bennett is originally from Bathurst.

She’s had an impressive professional journey so far with a Bachelor of Science (Nutrition), a Master of Health Science (Exercise and Sport Science) and a Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Ultrasound. She worked most extensively as a cardiac sonographer for 10 years before pursuing Medicine at the University of Newcastle, graduating in 2017.

Since then she has worked in the hospital system across a range of specialties, including Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Cardiology, Psychiatry and Geriatrics.

Some of you may have had the pleasure of meeting Dr Bennett already when she spent a year working in ED at Cessnock Hospital in 2020 . She developed a real fondness for Cessnock and our community then and now she’s made her way back!

On a personal note, Dr Bennett is mum to two beautiful girls. When she finds the time, she enjoys running, reading, good food and good coffee!

Dr Bennett is also working at Cessnock Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer.

She is currently working Mon and Weds at the practice.

INTRODUCING MEGAN BAILLIE

We are thrilled to welcome Megan to our admin team. 
She is a local, from Bellbird originally, now settled in Abermain.
Megan is a chef by trade but has been working in medical administration for the last few years. 
Outside of work, Megan and her partner are busy parents to their four wonderful children!  

DR MAHAM KHAN :

Dr Khan returned to Khan Medical Centre in 2020 after a stint away as part of her training.
She is a University of Nottingham (UK) graduate and an Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine registrar.
Dr Khan has been working in Cessnock since 2016.
Her interests include Paediatrics, Diabetes, Women’s Health, and Emergency Medicine.
She is also a Visiting Medical Officer at Cessnock Hospital.
Dr Khan is not taking new patients at present.
She is currently working Tues and Fri.

DR JAMES LIN:

Dr Lin joined Khan Medical Centre in 2020.
He is a University of Sydney graduate and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (1997).
Dr Lin has worked in Cessnock as a General Practitioner since 1998.
He has interests in Paediatrics, Palliative Care and Emergency Medicine.
He is also a Visiting Medical Officer at Cessnock Hospital.
Dr Lin is not taking new patients at present.
He works Mon-Thurs.

DR KATHLEEN ESPLANADA:

Dr Esplanada joined Khan Medical Centre in 2021.
She is a Cebu Doctors’ College of Medicine (Philippines) graduate and a Royal Australian College of General Practitioners registrar.
She has been working in Australia since 2010, with her prior experience in Melbourne and more recently on the Central Coast.
She has spent a lot of time working in Paediatrics, a particular interest of hers.
Dr Esplanada is not currently taking new patients.
She is currently working Mon-Thurs.

DR BASSEM ISKANDER

Dr Iskander joined Khan Medical Centre in 2023.
He is a graduate of Alexandria University (Egypt) and a Royal Australian College of General Practitioners registrar.
Dr Iskander has been working in Australia since 2018.
He has extensive experience in Emergency Medicine and General Practice.
His main areas of interest include Emergency Medicine, Diabetes, Skin Cancer Medicine, Ear Nose & Throat, Minor Surgical Procedures, Paediatrics, Men’s Health, Women’s Health and Pregnancy, Geriatric Medicine and Chronic Disease Management.
Dr Iskander is a Visiting Medical Officer at Cessnock Hospital.
He is taking new patients and is currently working Mon and Fri in the practice.

DR MARIAN REZK

Dr Rezk joined Khan Medical Centre in 2023.
She is a graduate of Alexandria University (Egypt) and a Royal Australian College of General Practitioners registrar.
Dr Rezk has been working in Australia since 2018.
She has many years of overseas experience in General Practice, Emergency Medicine, and Paediatrics.
Her other areas of interest include Diabetes, Skin Cancer Medicine, Women’s Health and Pregnancy, and Chronic Disease Management.
Dr Rezk is a Visiting Medical Officer at Cessnock Hospital.
She is taking new patients and is currently working Tues and Thurs in the practice.

RN SUZY WALSH:

Suzy is our full -time Registered Nurse.
Suzy joined Khan Medical Centre in 2020.
She is an experienced emergency nurse who had been working at Cessnock Hospital for over 20 years before joining the team.

CATHY FRAZER:

Cathy is our long-serving Practice Manager and Medical Practice Assistant.
Cathy has been working at Khan Medical Centre for over 20 years.

RAQUEL WILSON:

Raquel is our long-serving Secretary and Medical Practice Assistant.
Raquel has been working at Khan Medical Centre for over 20 years.
